FIRES
♦ SEED STORE DAMAGED AT HEATHCOTE Damage to stocks of barley stored on the premises of the Canterbury (N.Z.) Seed Company, Ltd.. at Heathcote, near the Lyttelton tunnel mouthy Was caused by an outbreak of fire early yesterday morning. The building was also damaged, one wall and a portion of the roof falling in. Two engines were called to the outbreak, the call being received shortly before 4 a.m. The fire was soon under control, but it was an hour before it was extinguished. The building and stock affected by the fire were insured with the Queensland Insurance Company, Ltd., for £45,000. There was only one building of the group affected. The manager of the company stated yesterday that the damage was not very serious, and there would be no cessation in the working of the company, orders being delivered to customers as usual. .
