MALVERN POWER BOARD
Members present at the last meeting of the Malvern Electric Power Board were Messrs John Deans (chairman), H. C. Amyes, G. Begg, and G. H. Judd. The Department of Internal Affairs wrote requesting the board to grant the staff full pay for Coronation Day and to consider erecting suitable decorations on its buildings. It was agreed to grant a paid holiday to the staff and the. secretary was given authority to decorate the showroom at a maximum'cost of £l2. It was agreed to oppose the Dominion award for electrical supply authority- employees as suggested by the Power Boards' Association, the board preferring the present provincial industrial districts to be kept in existence. A 40-chain extension in the Halkett 1 district estimated to cost £IOB was approved for construction. The engineer and secretary in his monthly report said that 30 defective gum poles had been replaced by ironbark poles. A 40-chain. extension had been made in the Waddington district j and a 20-chain extension in the Green- | dale district. During a strong northwesterly gale 11 poles had failed, principally in the Russell's Flat and Coalgate areas. The placing of a further order for 200 desapped ironbark poles was left with the chairman and secretary. Accounts totalling £1052 in the power fund account and £ll2 in the loan account were passed for payment. _______________
