OBITUARY

MRS R. A. ROW

Many friends in Christchurch and Sumner heard with profound regret of the sudden death last week of Mrs Aimee Row, wife of LieutenantColonel R. A. Row, of Mount Melrose, Wellington. Until her husband was transferred to Wellington three years ago, Mrs Row had spent all her life in Canterbury, where she had many friends. She was a member of a military family. Her father, Mr Augustus John Stewart formerly of Mount Stewart. Londonderry. Ireland, was a soldier and A.D.C. to his cousin, Lord Castlereagh, and her brother is a military officer in England.

Coming to New Zealand many years ago, Mr Stewart settled at Avonside, where Mrs Row was born. She was married shortly before the Great War, and on her husband's return from the front they made their home in Sumner, where they lived until a few years ago. Mrs Row was a kindly, capable woman, who did her share of Red Cross work during the war. and later took part in many activities in Sumner. She is survived by her husband, two daughters, and three sons. Major F. J. Stewart, of London, is a brother, and Mrs Howard Fountain (Bealey avenue, Christchurch). Mrs Marcelle Leman (Sydney), and Misses May and Vera Stewart (Avonside) are sisters.

AT POLO The increasing popularity of polo was proved on Saturday, when the practice games of members of the Christchurch Polo Club were followed with great interest by a large number of spectators. The great improvement in the gound at Hagley Park was welcome to the players and their ponies, and the play was keen and often exciting. TT . . Tea was served by Mrs H. G.
