MALE VOICE CHOIR

TO THE EDITOI OF THE PRESS

Sir, —Perhaps, although one may hold strong views on the subject, it is not for a mere layman to criticise the management of the Cathedral, but the Male Voice Choir is quite a different matter. At its concerts the public has for many years greatly enjoyed and appreciated items by the Cathedral choir boys accompanied by Dr. Bradshaw himself. This is the only occasion on which these young singers have the opportunity of earning and getting public applause, and we all know what a stimulus this is to any artist, young or old. I cannot think that to lads trained to render elaborate and difficult sacred compositions, mastering the light and tuneful and often humorous songs they delight us with at the concerts, affords any difficulty whatever, only relaxation. And to deprive them of the pleasure of assisting at the concerts is +o inflict on these gifted lads a grave and unnecessary injustice.—Yours, etc.. MUSIC LOVER, January 31, 1937.
