BATHER RESCUED AT SUMNER
A visitor to Sumner, while bathing in front cf the Sumner Surf Club pavilion yesterday morning, found himself unable to make headway against the strong rip of the ebbing tide, and had to be assisted ashore. He did not suffer from his experience. One of the junior members of the Sumner Life-Saving Club had swum out with the belt for a trial swim, and had just slipped out of the belt when he noticed a man swimming \iearby. On finding that the bather was in difficulties he was able to give assistance.
