THREE MEN INJURED MOTOR-CAR HITS STATIONARY LORRY (l'ttESS ASSOCIATION TELEGBAM.) DUNEDIN, January 30. Three men, one of whom is seriouslyinjured, arc in the Milton Hospital as the result of a motor-car crashing into a stationary lorry near Milton on Thursday night. The car was being driven by Mr Barnard Walter Tremaine, a cartage contractor, of Owaka, who sustained concussion and facial injury. Mr David Pullar, a farmer, of Owaka, suffered facial injury, a* broken collarbone; and concussion. Mr Alfred Beck, of Auckland, received facial injuries. The three men were returning to Owaka after attending the Forbury trots. BOY INJURED WHEN TRUCK CAPSIZES (PBJSSS ASSOCIATIOX TBLKQKAU.) AUCKLAND, January 30. A boy named Noel Fussell, who it is understood is a visitor to Auckland, | was injured in a spectacular motor [ accident at Newton, this morning, when an ice cream truck he was riding capsized while swerving to avoid a boy on a tricycle. Fussell was cut about the head and arms, and was taken to hospital. His injuries are not serious. The truck, in capsizing, collided with a parked car. Eye-witnesses state that the driver of the truck, in swerving, saved the child from probable serious injury. MARRIED MAN KILLED CAR PALLS EIGHTY FEET (PRESS ASSOCIATION TELEGRAM.) I WANGANUI. January 31. As a result of the car he was driving falling about 30 feet over a bank on the Parapara road, George Carruthers, a married man, aged 35, a farmer, of Te Awamutu, was killed on Saturday night. The accident oc-, curred soon after midnight. Carruthers was driving from his farm to join his wife, who, with her two children, had been spending a holiday with her parents at Makirikiri, near Wanganui. When approaching Otoko pa, about 28 miles i'rcm the city, Carruthers drove to the extreme outside edge of the road to allow another vehicle to pass. Apparently he drove too far, and his car crashed over the bank, the driver's neck being broken. MAORI STRUCK BY CAR (PRESS ASSOCIATION TELEGRAM.) ROTORUA, January 31. Fatal injuries were, received by an elderly Maori, Niheta Perenara, of Rotokawa, late on Saturday, when he was struck by a motor-car proceeding from Rotorua to Tikitere. The actual cause of the accident is not yet known, but it is understood that a car struck Perenara as be was crossing the road. The injured man was immediately taken to the Rotorua Hospital, where he succumbed soon after.. His injuries included a broken leg, concussion, and a fractured skull. The accident occurred on the main Tauranga-Rotorua highway, about two miles from Rotorua. The inquest was opened and adjourned. fIIOTOR-CYCLE COLLIDES WITH CAR Robert William Shepherd, of East belt, Rangiora, and Miss J. Dreaver, of South belt, Rangiora, who has been living at Leinster road, received injuries when the motor-bicycle which Shepherd was riding, with Miss Dreaver as passenger on the pillion-seat, came into collision with a motor-car near the Elmwood school, in Leinster road, about two o'clock yesterday afternoon. Miss Dreaver received head injuries, and after treatment at the hospital was discharged. Shepherd also had head and leg injuries, and was admitted to the hospital. His condition last evening was satisfactory. MOTOR-CYCLIST INJURED James Holden, who is believed to reside at Princes street, Woolston, was found lying on the Rakaia-Methven main highway at Somerton on Saturday evening with concussion and head injuries. He was later admitted to the Ashburtpn Public Hospital. A motorcycle was found on the road near Holden.
