FATAL CRASH NEAR MELBOURNE

TWO DEAD AND MACHINE SMASHED (Received January 31, 8.15 p.m.) MELBOURNE, January 31. An aeroplane crashed in the vicinity of Essendon aerodrome yesterday afternoon. Frederick Ridgeway, aged 30, and lan McKenzie, aged 25, were both killed. The machine was smashed to matchwood.
