ALEXANDRETTA SETTLEMENT
(Received January 29, 5.5 p.m.)
DAMASCUS, January 28,
All classes of the Syrian population participated in a demonstration against the Alexandretta settlement. Processions passed the Government offices all day shouting nationalist slogans. Bey Khoury, president of the Chamber of Deputies, in an interview, said that he considered that Mr R. A. Eden (British Foreign Secretary), who is chairman of the league council, to which the dispute was referred, had surrendered a vital part of the country in order to buy Turkish friendship.
