FAST TRIALS RECORDED
£Tfli PRESS Special Service.]
NELSON,' January 29
The Richmond course was in splendid order this morning, when some fast trials were recorded, two special eilorts being Superb’s mile and a half in 3rnid -20 sec, and Atarau King’s mile and a quarter in 2min 48sec. Both pacers ..worked, attractively. Native Cole finished better than Activity at the end of" two miles in 4mirv 34sec, the last mile in 2min 14sec. First- Aid, by Glandore, who assisted over the last mile, going 2min 15sec., Abyssinian King ran 10 furlongs nicely in 2min 50sec, and Reno and Repeal were not overtaxed to record similar time. Ideal, who looks fit, had no difficulty in registering Smin 25sec, and Travelwell impressed by recording Smin 25sec t _. ■ Margaret Parrish, trotting more solidly. than usual, gave a useful dis-play-in Smin SOsec. The three-year-old-Durbar Lodge trotter Gerfalcon gave 4a sound exhibition, but was not asked to go fast. He will be driven by L. Frost, who will also drive Loretta, Glencree, and Vinco to-morrow, in the absence of L. A. Maidens. Grand Author will not start at the meeting.
