In accordance with its custom, the council of the Economic Society of Australia and New Zealand has taken advantage of the holding of the Science Congress to hold its own biennial meeting. , At its meeting the director of the Queensland Bureau of Industry and Statistics (Mr J. B. Bridgen) «as elected president for the next two years. • . .. j It was reported that the society had more than 700 members in its branches throughout Australia and New Zealand. >
