BUSINESS CONTINUES ACTIVE AUSTRALIAN INDUSTRIALS POPULAR

There was an increased volume of business on the Christchurch Stock Exchange yesterday with activity in several Australian industrials. Price levels generally were well maintained. The chief advances were in British Tobaccos, Broken Hill Proprietary, Electrolytic Zinc, G. J. Coles, Mount Lyells, and Mount Moreans. Woolworths lost part of their recent gain and New Zealand Breweries showed a further easing.

Dalgety and Company recovered to £ll 12s 6d, and more were wanted at £ll 13s 6d. Goldsbrough Morts were fractionally firmer, with sellers and business at 38s. United Building Society were steady at 20s. New Zealand Refrigerating, 10s paid, moved up a point to 9s Gd. market closing Id either way. New Zealand Breweries dropped to dealings at 57s 6d. 57s 2d. and 575. and there were further sellers at the lowest price, buyers at 5Cs. Tooths Brewery were firmer on buyers' offers 56s 6d. Miscellaneous Anthony Hordern advanced tn 20s Bd, closing quotations' Id on either side. British Tobaccos rose to dealings at prices ranging from 50s to 50s 7d. and closed firmer, with buyers at 50s Bd. Broken Hill Proprietary were firmer, with dealings. at 82s 9d and 82s 6d—the contributing moved up to 69s 7id and 69s 9d„ Colonial Sugars were firm at £43. Dunlop Perdriau Rubbers advanced to dealings at 19s 3d to 19s 4Jd. Electrolytic Zinc were firmer, with dealings in the ordinary at 55s Id and 56s Id. and in the preference at 58s 6d and 58s sd. A late sale of G. J. Coles on Wednesday was reported at 98s Gd—the market yesterday was firmer, with dealings at 90s and 99s 3d. Kauri Timbers were easier at 235, market closing 2d either way. Morts Dock were fractionally firmer at 13s 2d and 13s Id. Wilcox Mofflin were firmer, with' buyers and dealings at 12s lOd, sellers at 13s. Wilson's Cement changed hands at 395. Woolworths, New Zealand, ordinary, relapsed to £7 9s 6d. and £7 7s. Mining Gillespies Beach had business at Is sd, and more were wanted at that price. Worksop Extended were firmer with buyers and dealings at Is 9Ad. Broken Hill South moved up to 48s 9d, and more were wanted at that price. Mount Lyells rose sharply to dealings at prices ranging from 43s to 445. Mount Morgans were firmer at 17s 4d, 17s sd, and 17s 4£d. Unlisted Stocks Sellridges gained Is 7d, with business at 39s 7d. Woolworths, Ltd., dropped to dealings at prices ranging from £8 15s 6d to £8 lis, and there were further sellers at the lowest price. Woolworths, Western Australia, were easier at £7 8s 6d to £7 Bs.
