MEETING OF CHRISTCHURCH EAST CIRCUIT A credit balance of £3O 12s 3d was reported at the quarterly meeting of the Christchurch East Methodist circuit. presided over by the Rev. H. L. Fiebig. Home mission returns showed a total of £212 and foreign missions £214 6s 3d. Collections for the Methodist Orphanage amounted to £2O 6s 3d. Returns showed that there were 659 senior members. 817 Sunday school pupils, and 94 teachers. ' , The Rev. Gardiner Brown reported that about £SO was in hand for the new church at New Brighton. The circuit stewards. Messrs M. Kershaw and S. Harrington, were thanked for their services and were reappointed. . ' „ . . Messrs W. C. Francis;. S. Harrington, and J. W. Pepperill were elected representatives to conference, to be held in Auckland in February, with Messrs A. A. Berry, J. Buxton, and Mrs W. C. Francis as substitutes. ■ Messrs R. E. Holloway, W. C. Francis, A. Clothier, and J. B. Weir were appointed delegates to the district executive. . ... Votes of thanks were passed to Miss D. Hoddinott. foreign mission secretary. Mr G. Armitage, home mission secretary, and Mr R. Hoddinott, Sunday school secretary,' all of whom were reappointed. , . * The Rev. H. L. Fiebig (chairman), the Rev. J. C. Clothier, and A, Dobby were appointed as the circuu finance committee; SYDENHAM CIRCUIT Though a small debit balance was shown at the quarterly meeting of the Sydenham Methodist Circuit, there was an encouraging improvement on the balance-sheet of previous quarters. Evison were appointed to represent the circuit on tjie district executive commitlG©. The Ladies’ Guild reported that arrangements for a garden party, to be held at the residence of Mr G. Ewart Smith on Saturday, February <27, were well forward. Mr L. Butler was reappointed nome mission secretary for the year. Mr Henderson was invited to remain in the circuit till the end of the circuit year.
