REGRADING AS TRAINING SCHOOL MONTHLY MEETING OF BOARD ■ * Mr T. W. Duff presided at a meeting of the Westland Hospital Board. The matron reported that in December the highest number of occupied beds was 56 and the lowest 44, the average for the month being 52. Five candidates sat for the final State examination, which was held at Hokitika in December. Official notification had been received from the. Nurses’ and Midwifes’ Registration Board that the Westland Hospital had again been made an A grade training school from May. 1936. The appointment of a tutor sister was held over. The treasurer reported receipts to be £1257 9s 7d, payments £1744 13s 6d. and credit balance £227 10s, Accounts amounting to £1483 19s 8d were passed for payment. A deputation, consisting of Miss Stella Macfarlane and Mr F. Turley, waited on the board to discuss the will of Miss Catherine M. McKinnon, The deputation asked that an arrangement be made by which Miss Macfarlane should receive a part of the estate to which she would have been entitled under an early will, A later one had been made in favour of the Westland Hospital.
