NEW TRAFFIC CODE IN EVERY HOME

Semple, expects very shortly to be able to see fulfilled his desire to have a copy of his new traffic regulations and code in every home in the country. He indicated this when replying yesterday, to a deputation' from motoring organisations in the city. The Minister was asked for details of his scheme, sd that automobile ' associations would have a clear view of their obligations in the direction of providing copies of the rules embodied in the new code. But Mr Semple said that there was no need for any automobile association to spend a penny in compiling[and printing the regulations. His scheme would cover all needs, he said, and he intended almost" immediately to have copies of the regulations and the code distributed to every;home. In addition copies would beattacnea to every driver's license issued this year. "The code would also be sent to motoring organisations, safety councils, and other interested authorities. The distribution would be wide enough to ensure that every person using the roads would have the opportunity, of knowing the rules of the road. ,;; "The Government considers that this -task is its own responsibility,' Mr Semple said, "and no other organisation, including the automobile associations, need spend anything in the same work."
