STAND AGAINST MILITARISM
METHODIST BIBLE CLASS RESOLUTION GOVERNMENT ACTION URGED (PRESS AS3OCIATIOIC TBLEOEAM.) WELLINGTON, January 12. "Believing that in any circumstances war is utterly opposed to the spirit and teachings of Jesus Christ, and is the greatest enemy of human progress, we urge all Christian men and women, and particularly our own Bible class members, to take . a definite stand against all forms of militarism.". This was the text of a resolution carried at the recent annual convention of the New Zealand Methodist Young Mens Bible Class Movement. The convention urged the Government to give a lead to the world by repealing the compulsory clauses' of the Defence Act, abolishing military training in schools, diverting the money used in preparations for war to the promotion of peace and international understanding, and giving a tangible' assurance of good faith and sincerity in claiming to be supporters of international concord and justice.
