36,000 MILES BY AIR IN SIX MONTHS

HAWKE’S BAY FARMER RETURNS TO AUSTRALIA

DARWIN. January 11

“Since leaving Sydney about six months ago I have travelled about 36,000 miles by air and my journey has more than convinced me that flying is the only method of travel," said Mr F. D. Herrick, the Hawke’s Bay sheep farmer, who arrived at Darwin by the Qantas mail aeronlane on his return trip from London. He is accompanied by his daughter, vho has been attending a finishing school in England. Mr Herrick accompanied Mr F. C. Chichester on a flight to the East last year. They intended flying across Russia to England, but because of flying restrictions they were forced to turn back after reaching Peiping. They returned to Rangoon and then flew to England.
