MR BROOK RETURNING TO ENGLAND

ATTEMPT ON CAPE RECORD

ABANDONED

LONDON, January 10.

Mr H. L, Brook, who was one of the participants in, the Melbourne Centenary air race of 1934, set out from the Gravesend airport at 6.15 a.m. to-day ; in an attempt to break Mrs* Amy Mollison’s record to the Cape and back, which her husband vainly tried to lower last month. A message from Bari, in Italy, states that Mr Brook arrived at 5.15. He had very little petrol left, as he fought a head wind from Marseilles. He is remaining the might because of unfavourable weather. A later message says the weather has compelled Mr Brook to abandon the flight. He will return to England and make another attempt.
