CHRISTCHURCH BOY’S BRAVERY Two Lyttelton yachtsmen, F. I. Sutton and Keith Hendry, got into difficulties about 9 o’clock on Sunday night •when their sailing boat became unmanageable through the rudder being smashed by a big sea when off Diamond Harbour. - The boat was being driven on to -the rocks by the north-wester when Wallace Blewett, a 14-year-old boy. a son of Mr and Mrs L. F. Blewett, of 2 Brett’s road, St. Albans, put out in a dinghy to their rescue, sculling with a single sculL Although a choppy sea was running, the boy took a line from the boat and moored it to a buoy in the bay. He then had to beach the (iinghy and empty it of water. Setting out again, Blewett took one of the youths from the boat to the shore. As Blewett was then exhausted, the youth took the dinghy out and rescued bis mate.
