CORONATION BIBLES

NO PORTRAIT OF KING OR QUEEN

LONDON, January 7. King George has withheld his permission for the inclusion of his or the Queen’s portraits in the Coronation Bibles, which will be published on April 1. The frontispiece, instead, will show the interior of Westminster Abbey. The Coronation Prayer Books, however, will contain three pages of Royal portraits. There will be fullpage photogravures each of the King and Queen Elizabeth. The third page will shsyr Princess Elizabeth and Princess Margaret Rose. It is recalled that the Bibles issued at the Coronations of King Edward VII. and King George V. included the pictures of the sovereigns, and that King Edward VIII., before his abdication, had approved of a portrait of himself for use in his Coronation editions. The new editions of Bibles and Prayer Books will outwardly be distinguishable by the Royal cipher embossed in gold on the cover.
