BRITONS AND GERMANS
♦ Difference of Outlook Recognised COMMENT IN NAZI NEWSPAPER (UNITED PHESS ASSOCIATION—COPYRIGHT.) (Received December 25, 11.50 p.m.) LONDON, December 24. The Berlin correspondent of “The Times” says the Na?i organ “Volkischer Beobachter” supplies an important commentary on relations between Britain and Germany in the form of a frank recognition of the differences between Britons and Germans. It thinks that Britons will be convinced that relations between the two countries must be brought back to what they were before the great estrangement of 1903. But this can only be welcomed by those who believe that length of close kinship and widespread similarity would be a false foundation for real friendship. Nobody suggests that Britons ever deeply understood the Russian or Japanese peoples; but they have had an entente with Russia and an alliance with Japan. The realisation of the difference of outlook between England and Germany therefore need not impede early co-operation.
