GOVERNMENT TO ASSUME CONTROL (ITIESS ASSOCIATION TELEGRAM.) WELLINGTON, December 25. The Minister for Agriculture (the Kon. W. Lee Martin) announces that arrangements have been completed between the Government and the Flock House trustees for the property and farm-training establishment at Flock House to be taken over by the Department of Agriculture from February 1 next. “The Government,” said the Minister, “is most appreciative of the foundation laid by the trustees of the Seamen’s Fund, and is satisfied that Flock House and simila- organisations, run on the soundest lines, should be an integral part of the educational system of the Dominion, so that every suitable boy who desires to make a living on the land shall be given an opportunity of receiving a thorough grounding in practical and theoretical farm work before entering upon employment. It is hoped to go further than this, and later to give opportunities and assistance to all those who prove worthy, and who devote their time earnestly to fitting themselves for the future, to make a start for themselves. The training and maintenance at Flock House will now be free to all boys who comply with the requirements of medical fitness, personal character, and desire for a farming career.
