HELP FOR DISTRESSED AREAS IN BRITAIN
FOUR INDUSTRIAL ADVISERS APPOINTED (BRITISH OrriCUL WIBBI.B8*.) (Received December 24, 5.5 p.m.) RUGBY, December 23. Sir George Gillett, Commissioner for the Special Areas, has appointed as his industrial adviser Lord Portal, who is a prominent industrialist and chairman of the Special Areas Reconstruction Association. He is one of the trustees of Lord Nuffield’s gift of £2,000,000 for the special areas. The three other advisers include Mr Frank Hodges, who was a member of the 1924 Labour administration and one-time secretary of the Miners’ Federation. He now serves on the directorates of several important companies and is vice-chair-man of the National Fuel and Power Committee.
