IRELAND TO TAKE BRITISH COAL
* NEW ARRANGEMENT MARE TRADE RELATIONS UNDER DISCUSSION (British official wireless.) (Received December 25, 8.10 p.m.) RUGBY, December 23. In an official statement, the Irish i Free State Minister for Industry and j Commerce (Mr Scan Lemass) incliI cates that from January next until j January 31, 1938, the Free State will j take 3,133,000 tons of British coal. There is a nominal quota of 1000 tons for foreign coal. The statement adds that this arrangement was made pending the completion of discussions on the .continuance of the existing arrangements between the Free State and Britain, whereby the Free State takes British coal and Bidtain takes an increased number of Irish cattle but continues to charge special customs duly on them.
