i ASCENTS OF SEVERN PEAKS activity at the hermit^ Miss Kate Gardiner, the climber, who is at the HermiS? Mount Cook, for the climbing has recently made two ascentsW the upper reaches of the Hooker % ley. In company with Guide FW Alack and Chief Guide Vic Will®? of the Hermitage, Miss GardiS climbed the Harper saddle and mX Sturdee one day, and made an atlaS on La Perouse the next. The La g rouse trip was unsuccessful because* unfavourable conditions, but afe later the south peak of Mount cS ■was made. The ascent of this of Cook is considered to be fairly dS ficult. It provides excellent rock aS snow climbing. The time taken a this climb was a little more than a hours.
