SOUTH CANTERBURY TOURNAMENT RECORD ENTRIES FOR SINGLES COMPETITION The South Canterbury Bowling Centre’s Christmas tournament was commenced yesterday on the Timaru and West End greens in excellent conditions. Entries for the singles constitute a record, while 22 entries have been received for the pairs, compared with 20 last year, and 58 for the rinks, compared with 52 last year. Yesterday rinks games were played. Results were;— Timaru Green—Section A. sub-section 1; Hart (Highfield). Moyes (Timaru). and L. Dewar (Park) won two games each. In the play-off Hart beat Moyes but was beaten by Dewar. Sub-section 2: J. Healey (Waimate) won three games. Section B—J. Adams (Phoenix) won three games. West End Green—Section A: J. Currie (West End) and B, Gibson (West End) won three games each. To-day pairs will be played.
