♦ GOVERNMENT TO NEGOTIATE WITH REBELS (Received December 24, 5.5 p.m.) NANKING, December 23. At the request of Mr T. V. Soong, acting for Marshal Chiang Kai-shek, hostilities against the rebels have been suspended for three days to facilitate negotiations.
