CUBAN PRESIDENT MAY BE REMOVED
SENATORIAL COURT TO HEAR IMPEACHMENT CHARGE (Received December 23, 5.5 p.m.) HAVANA, December 22. After the decision by the House of Representatives to impeach the President (Dr. M. M. Gomez), the Senate met as a court of justice and, after installing the chief justice as president of the Senatorial Court, adjourned for 24 hours to permit Dr. Gomez to prepare his defence. It is considered certain that the Senate j will find him guilty and dismiss him. [After Dr. Gomez had vetoed a bill to impose a tax on sugar, the Cuban Congress held a secret session, in which it began impeachment proceedings against him.l i ___ .
