It was agreed to have a 40-hour week, work to commence at 7.30 a.m. from Monday to Friday, and to cease not later than 5 p.m. In the event of necessitous work, it was agreed that men might be employed for not more than four hours on Saturday morning, provided that the 40 hours were not exceeded in that week. It was further agreed that piecework might be carried out at rates to be agreed upon between the union and the employer concerned. The following rates of pay were agreed to: —Head moulder. 2s 6d an hour; moulders and mixers, 2s 5Jd an hour; all other concrete pipe workers, 2s 33d an hour. Men engaged on night work firing boilers and steaming pipes are not to be subject to the limitation of hours, and are to be paid not less than £4 12s a week. It was agreed that the company should be allowed to employ one youth for every three adult workers, starting at 20s and increasing by six-monthly rises to £3 10s. It was agreed that work done in excess of eight hours for the first five days of the week should be paid for at time and a half for the first three hours and double time after that. That, in the event of a dismissal, the employer should give the worker one hour's notice was also agreed to.
