GAMING CHARGES
TWENTY-NINE MEN FINED AT AUCKLAND (MESS ASSOCIATION TELEGRAM.) AUCKLAND, December 23. After the arrest of 29 men at a gymnasium club premises in the city last night, all appeared at the Magistrate's Court to-day. Frank Dickson Russell, a salesman, 42 years of age, was fined £75, in default two months' imprisonment, on a charge that, being the occupier, he used the premises as a common gaming house. Frederick William Bachelor, a labourer, 58 years of age, was fined £SO, in default two months' imprisonment, for assisting in the management of a gaming house. Albert Thomas, a barman, 46 years of age, was fined £3O. in default one month's imprisonment, on a similar charge. The men found on the premises were fined various sums, ranging from £1 to £4.
