BIG PROGRAMME
OPENING OP BROADSIDING SEASON A big holiday programme has been drawn up for the first meeting of the 1936-37 broadsiding season, which will be inaugurated at Monica Park on Saturday (Boxing night). It is anticipated that some of the iinest racing yet seen at the stadium will be witnessed, for two noted Australian stars have been engaged to appear, and the track has been specially reconditioned and many improvements made. It is expected that a record crowd will attend the gala opening, and in view of this no effort has been spared by the management (Stadium Sports, Ltd.) to make the meeting a memorable one. The programme will include match, scratch, and handicap races, and there should be no lack of thrills. Billy Melhuish (Newcastle) and Dick Duggan (Woollahra). the two young and popular Australians who will be making their debut, are fresh from recent successes in Sydney. In addition, there is a good entry of local riders who were so prominent last season. The management announces that, owing to the prevalence of infantile paralysis in the south, children under 12 will not be admitted.
