* WATERFRONT HOLIDAYS Work on the waterfront at Lyttelton will cease at noon to-day and will resume on Monday morning. Next week, New Year's Day and the day following will be observed as holidays. Shops Closing Most of the shops in Lyttelton will remain open until 10 o'clock to-night and will then close until Monday. An i exception will be the butchers* shops, which close at 5 o'clock to-night and reopen on Monday. Extra Land for School A grant has been approved by the Minister for Education (the Hon. P. Fraser) for the purchase of a section adjoining the Lyttelton West School in order that additional ground may be available for school purposes. Advice of the approval of the grant was received yesterday by Mr T. H. McCombs, M.P. LYTTELTON MARINE BAND.
