GIFT PARTIES

Miss Beatrice Willis, Somme street, St. Albans, was hostess at a pantry evening party given in honour of Miss Phyllis Meyers, who is to be a bride early in the New Year. To honour Miss Janet Fleming, whose marriage will take place this month, the Misses Marjorie Watt and Alison Greer were joint hostesses at an enjoyable card party held at the home of Mrs Greer. Miss Fleming received many useful gifts for her kitchen. Those present included Mesdames W. Greer. Lan Cloudesley. Colin Carr, Melville Lake. MIDNIGHT CARNIVAL DANCE A carnival midnight' dance will be held on Christmas nifht (Friday), at the Ritz Assembly Hall. Suoner w'l' be served at 11 p.m.. and dancing will commence at midnight. The Ritz rhythm band will t- in attendance. CHRISTMAS EVE DANCE To-night at the Assembly Hall, Gloucester street, a Christmas Eve carnival dance will be held. The Ritz rhythm band will be in attendance. BOXING NIGHT DANCE The Ritz old-time dance will be held as usual on Saturday evening (Boxing P'"«ht), in the Ritz Assembly Hall. Gloucester street. Lucky spot and Monte Carlo dances will be on the programme. Colin Campbell's band will provide the dance music. Visitors are cordially invited to the Ritz Hall.

WINTER GARDEN A carnival cabaret will be presented at the Winter Garden on Saturday evening. Special carnival attractions are offered, together with the latest English novelties. The Bailey-Marston orchestra have arranged a very special programme of dance music. Patrons are asked to reserve early for the New Year's Eve carnival. . ~~i CALEDONIAN HALL A special Christmas carnival will be held at the Caledonian Hall on Saturday evening under the auspices of the Caledonian Select Assembly. Old and new dances, streamers, balloons, lucky spots, and four cash Monte Carlos are the attractions offered. George Bradford's orchestra will provide the dance music.
