MANY PARCELS PACKED
"THE PRESS SHIP'S" GIFTS DISTRIBUTION TO BE MADE TO-DAY The packing of the parcels to be sent from the children of "The Press Ship" to needy families of Christchurch ended yesterday. Four hundred and thirty-three separate parcels are now stacked up on the tables used by the workers, and are grouped for the various suburbs, ready for delivery. The parcels contain toys, garments, puddings, and cakes, and 100 of them will be distributed to old people. "I wish particularly to thank those mothers who have helped all the week to pack these parcels," said "Lady Gay" yesterday. "Some of them have helped with the packing for 15 years. Those who have heloed this year are Mesdames A. Coleman E Baylis, E. Whitley, L. A. Cade, V E* Mayo, D. Hay, and M. E. Tobin. '"There has been a very generous response to the appeal for cakes," added "Lady Gay." Because of health restrictions, the children are unable to participate in the distribution of the parcels, which is usually greatly looked forward to; marking as it does the triumphant end to months of hard work. The distribution will begin at 2.30 p.m. to-day. "There have been many offers of assistance," said "Lady Gay," "and we now have a fleet of cars available for the distribution."
