SCHOOL PRIZES

SPRINGBURN

The pupils of the Sprlngburn School were each given a gift book on the day of the break-up. The following were the special awards:—Roy Campbell memorial prizes: Enid Fagan (standard VI.), Michael Flynn (standard V.), Shona McFarlane (standard IV.). Lindsay Bruce (standard III.). Sewing: Yvonne Brown (senior). Joyce Goldsmith (junior). Attendance: Ina Aldridge and Alan McFarlane.

ASHLEY BANK The annual Ashley Bank school picnic was held at the Botanic Gardens, Christchurch. A sports programme was run off after lunch. The school prizes were distributed the following day, each scholar receiving a book. Special prizes were awarded as follows:—Dux medal, Nancy Lowe. Sewing prizes—Standard VI.; Nancy Lowe. Standard V.: Grace Macanu. Knitting—Standards 11. and I.: Raymond Wright, Revell Stringer. Sewing—Primer 4: Ina Irvine 1, Mona Mcßae and Mavis Macann (equal) 2. Primer 3: Elwyn Lindsay 1. The infant mistress, Miss E. Kitto, who has been appointed to the staff of the Oxford District High School, was presented with a paij* of crystal vases. Nancy Lowe made the presentation on behalf of the pupils, and Miss Kitto replied.
