NEW PROFESSOR OF BIOLOGY
* APPOINTMENT at OTAGO UNIVERSITY [THE PRESS Special Service.] DUNEDIN, December 22. The council of the University of Otago has appointed Mr B. J. Marples, M.A. (Oxon), M.Sc. (Manchester), to the position of professor of biology in succession to Dr. W. B. Benham. Mr Marples at present is lecturer in zoology in the University of Bristol. He will enter upon his duties at the beginning of the autumn term in 1937. Mr Marples, who is 28 years of age and married, is at present lecturer in zoology (grade III.) in the University of Bristol. He has had considerable experience as lecturer and demonstrator in zoology, physiology, and related subjects. He has been official examiner for both elementary and final examinations in the Universities of Manchester and Bristol, and apart from conducting extra-mural classes in zoology he has also lectured to Workers’ Educational Association classes. He has published a number of scientific papers.
