DISPUTE IN COTTON INDUSTRY
SETTLEMENT REACHED
(XBITIRB OFFICIAL WIRELESS.) RUGBY, December 21. The wages dispute, concerning which notices to cease work were given to more than 100,000 operatives in the spinning section of the cotton industry in Lancashire, has been settled without an actual strike developing. The agreement has still to be formally ratified by the various organisations on both sides, but it is unanimously recommended by the negotiating committees, and ratification is certain. The settlement is a compromise, and it represents a per cent, advance on the standard piece price-list rates against 15 per cent, which was claimed by the operatives.
