♦- NEW MEMBER WELCOMED TO BOARD The members present at the monthly meeting of the Springs-Ellesmere Electric Power Board were Messrs A. E. Langdale-Hunt (chairman), R. T. McMillan, J. H. Williams, T. O. Morgan, and H. Neave. A welcome was extended by the chairman to Mr Williams, the new representative of Springs County. The financial statement gave the power fund credit as £853 Os 4d, with £ISOO on fixed deposit, while the No. 5 loan account had a credit of £716 4s Id. Accounts for payment totalled £4577 12s. Current for the month cost £BBO 14s 2d, as compared with £825 2s fid for the same period of last year. Sales and installations were given as £256 13s sd. an increase of £3l 4s 6d. Sales of current for lighting showed an increase of £SO 12s 7d, current for heating brought in £23 3s 5d less, while sales for power were £3O 12s 4d more.
The engineer reported the completion of an extension to Southbridge and the arrival of 126 poles. A number of ranges had been installed lately. An application for an extension in Springs County was referred to the engineer to deal with.
Leave was granted the engineer to attend the annual conference of the Society of Civil Engineers in Christchurch next February. A consumer wrote about the rates for domestic current based on the number of rooms. It was decided to reply that no reconsideration of the charges could be made until the 'end of the financial year.
