CHALLENGES TO DUEL WITHDRAWN
♦ HUNGARIAN CELEBRATES HIS FIRST-BORN (Received December 22, 5.5 p.m.> BUDAPEST, December 21. The wife of Dr. Francis Sarga. who when aspersions were cast on the honour of his wife, challenged nine men to duels and fought two of them, gave birth to a daughter. Dr. Sarga offers in the spirit of Christmas and in celebration of his first-born to forgive the traducers and to withdraw the remaining duelling challenges if apologies are offered.
Madame Sarga says she is glad that the baby is not a boy, as he might then have been a duellist. [A Budapest message of November 24 said: Seeking to vindicate the honour of his wife, about which, it is alleged, aspersions were cast, Sarga, who challenged nine men. fought the first two duels with pistols secretly in a stubble field on the outskirts of the city. His first opponent was wounded in the arm and was'sent to hospital. In the second duel both missed and were reconciled. The duel* were necessarily hurried, as peasants flocked to the scene immediately the news spread. Dr. Sarga does not intend carrying the rest of the duels further immediately, as the police are watching him.]
