END OF SHIPPING STRIKE NEAR
AGREEMENT ACCEPTED ON PACIFIC COAST FORMAL RATIFICATION NOW NEEDED (Received December 21, 11.30 p.m.) SAN FRANCISCO, December 21. The drawing of a formal agreement to end the Pacific coast shipping strike is nearly completed. The president of the Pacific Maritime Workers' Federation (Mr Lundberg) said that there was no intention of permitting the Atlantic striketo delay a settlement. All indications point to the early end of the strike, which began 53 days ago. Mr Lundberg later announce! that a written agreement had been completed and had been accepted by the leaders of the shipowners and strikers. The next step would be the formal ratification by the members of both parties.
