❖ CANTERBURY ALLOTTED CHAMPIONSHIPS NEW ZEALAND ASSOCIATION'S ANNUAL MEETING (PRESS ASSOCIATION TELEGRAM.) WELLINGTON. December 21. Mr R W McVilly was re-elected president of the New Zealand Athletic Association at the annual meeting tonight. „ ~ , The Canterbury Centre was allotted the 1937 New Zealand cross-co-.intry championships and also the 1938 New Zealand track and field championships. Discussing the .Japanese Amateur Athletic Association's proposal to send two athletes to New Zealand in January Mr McVilly, said no further advice was to hand from New South Wal«s about the tour of the Americans, Draper and Mackey, but the New Zealand Association nevertheless was committed in that direction. A Japanese tour therefore seemed impossible. The meeting decided to seek final advice from New South Wales.
