DEATH WHILE SWIMMING UNDER WATER

MAN DROWNED AT BLENHEIM BATHS

Edward Henry Alger, single, aged 29, a clerk in the Agricultural D<mar - ment’s office at Blenheim died whfle swimming under water at the mum cipal swimming baths shortly 7.30 last evening. . Dickinson was working with others on spoutings. A companion heard a sound of glass breaking and saw Dickinson falling through the .skylight on to the floor below. CAR DRIVER INJURED

CARTERTON. December 15. A truck driven by Henry H. Phelps ran straight into a small car driven by Henry J. Crawley as it emerged from a side street in Carterton to-day. Crawley suffered a broken collarbone and was admitted to a private hospital.

MAN KILLED BY PREMATURE EXPLOSION

ROTORUA,' December 15. Eldred Lyle, aged 22, was killed instantly by the premature explosion of a charge of gelignite with which he was working this a'fternoon in a quarry belonging to the National Timber Company, at Ngongotaha. Lyle had bored a hole about 70 feet up the face of the quarry and was placing a charge in it when the gelignite exploded. He was killed instantly, his body being terribly mutilated.
