350,000,000 DOLLARS LOST BY STRIKE
♦ U.S. SHIPOWNERS’ REPORT (Received December 14, 8.15 p.m.) SAN FRANCISCO, December 13. Shipowners announced that their losses through the west coast shipping strike are estimated at 350,000,000 dollars. A survey showed a loss of 7,250,000 dollars each working day on a basis of 240 idle ships and 37,000 idle maritime workers. Thousands of employees are idle in related industries, 10,000 participating in walk-outs not directly connected with the shipping strike.
