“CLEAN-UP” WEEK AT GERALDINE
SPECIAL COLLECTIONS OF REFUSE PREPARING FOR CHRISTMAS A special “clean-up” week is being observed at Geraldine this year with a view to a tidier township at Christmas time. This week the Borough Council is making special collections of refuse free of charge. To-day’s collection will be north of Hislop street, and tomorrow the lorry will collect rubbish south_ of Hislop street. Special rubbish receptacles, painted green, have been erected in Talbot street. KING’S BIRTHDAY AT GERALDINE
FINE WEATHER ENJOYED FOR HOLIDAY The hottest weather so far this summer was enjoyed at Geraldine for the King’s Birthday week-end, and many residents spent the holiday out-of-doors. The domain swimming baths and pools in the river were well patronised by bathers. The motor traffic through the township, too, was heavier than usual. FAIRLIE DOMAIN INSPECTION BY BOARD On Friday afternoon the members of the Domain Board paid a visit of inspection to the domain. After the various works recently carried out had been inspected, a meeting was held, at which Mr J. Caskey presided. The works committee presented a report. The opinion was expressed that the domain was now a fine asset to the township and district. The Mackenzie Highland Pipe Band offered to give a band concert on the domain on December 20, half the proceeds of the concert to go to the domain funds. The offer was accepted. Messrs J. Caskey, C. J. Talbot, G. Lyons, and J. A. Fraser were appointed a sub-committee to go into the finance and to report in two months.
