Harries, two well-known Canterbury riflemen, were well to the fore in this shoot. G. Crimp scored 48 at 300 yards and 49 at 600 yards, and H. Harries scored 48 at botli ranges. Shooting in the match against Brunnerton at Cobden recently, under difficult conditions, M. Garth, of the Grey Defence Club, scored a possible at 300 yards, and continued his scoring with 33 at 500 yards and 29 at 600 yards. Garth, who was top scorer for his side, is well known in miniature rifle shooting. The Canterbury championship meeting will be held at Redcliffs on Boxing Day. With the issue of reliable ammunition, some excellent shooting is expected, and the meeting promises to be one of the most successful held for some years. Coronation Meeting at Blsley Had it not been for the generosity of Mr J. Woolcott-Forbes, of Sydney, it is considered unlikely that a team of Australian riflemen would be present at the Coronation meeting of the National Rifle Association at Bisley next July. This wellknown business man and sportsman deserves the greatest credit for his magnificent gift of £SOOO to finance the team, and it is to be hoped that the selected marksmen of the Commonwealth will return with many honours. At the Diamond Jubilee matches' in 1897 a team from Victoria won the Kolapore Cup. and it would be a splendid achievement if the 1937 team could repeat this performance. Teams from Australia have won the Kolapore Cup in 1902. 1903, and 1914, and the MacKinnon Cup in 1913, 1914, and 1928. The visit of the Australian team to Bisley is already regarded as

the biggest feature of the Coronation meeting. A special Coronation competition will be fired concurrently with the first stage of the King’s Prize, and commemorative medals will be presented in die chic; matches. The concession to the Australians to use the Australian-made shert heavy-barrelled rifle is viewed with sympathy, but is expected to give the Australians an advantage. The team as at present constituted is; P. A. Pavey, C. H. Mues. A. R. Aikenhead (Victoria), P. Lee, H. G. James. H. I. Motton (New South Wales). C. E. Armstrong, P. G. Mathews (Queensland». W. T. Collyer, W. Lucas, jun. (South Australia i. N. C. Blurton, W. Mellows (Western Australia), P. M. Gillies (Tasmania*. Colonel Sir Charles Merrctt, chairman of the Commonwealth Council of Rifle Associations. who lias already been successful with teams at Bisley, will be commandant. The adjutant and coaches have not yet been selected, but it is expected that these will be announced within a few days.
