The annual picnic of the Shirley Methodist Sunday School was held at Mr J. G. Armstrong's homestead, Bottle Lake road, Marshland, • The following were the results of races;— Primary department (girls): Maui’een Bradley 1, Norma Turner 2, Valmai Hammond 3; primary department (boys): Murray Cox 1, Jack Yarr 2. Colin McAuley 3: girls, 8 to 10 years: Valerie Clark 1, Peggy Pankhurst 2, Melva Hammond 3: 1C to 12: Pat Walker 1. Edna McAuley 2, F’at Haffenden 3; 12 to 14: Kathleen Jessop 1, Audrey Kingston 2. Jean Gordon 3; boys. 8 to 10; Don. Turner 1, Harry Harding 2. Jack McAuley 3: 10 to 12; Vernon Gerard 1. Arnold Harding 2, Norman Cox 3; consolation race (girls): Yvonne Kingston; boys; Howard Farr; single men’s race: Mr R. Kiddey; single women’s race: Miss D. Mortiboy 1, Miss C. Sealey 2; manned women’s race: Mrs R. Jones; married men’s race, Mr J. Murray; teachers’ race. Mr S. Collins; race for children not attending Sunday school; Elaine Inkster and Desmond Baker.
