ESTATE VALUED AT £20,000

PROBATE GRANTED BY COURT OF APPEAL (PRESS ASSOCIATION TELEGRAM.) WELLINGTON, November 13. In an action in the Court of Appeal to obtain probate of the will and two codicils of James Joseph Burt Veale, of Auckland, who died on July 25, 1935, leaving an estate valued at about £20,000, grant of probate was opposed only as far as the two codicils were concerned, the question being whether the testator had testamentary capacity at the time he executed these. Mr Justice Reed and Mr Justice Kennedy considered that the appeal should be dismissed. Mr Justice Ostler and Mr Justice Blair were of the opinion that the appeal should be allowed. As the court was evenly divided, the appeal was dismissed, and the validity of the codicils pronounced.
