MAORI GIRL’S DEATH
POISONING SUSPECTED (PSSSS ASSOCIATION TXUCQBAM.) TAURANGA, November 13. The death occurred yesterday of Heni Ohia, a Maori girl aged 18 years. Death was apparently due to poisoning. The girl lived with her grandparents, who were very fond of her. She went to a dance at Waitao on Wednesday, and apparently was quite happy. She wished to marry a young Maori, but her grandparents would not give their consent. Yesterday she rose at 6 o’clock, but she did not do her customary work- She appeared to be upset, and threatened to take poison. Her grandparents attached no importance to the statements, but about 8 o’clock they found her in - .pain. She showed no signs of recovery, and during the morning they called a doctor, but the girl died before his arrival. ' '■ ■ ' ' ■
