SUMMER FROCKS AND SHADY HATS

SUNSHINE AT ADDINGTON A PLEASANT GATHERING All was bright and cheerful at Addington yesterday when the New Zealand Metropolitan Trotting Club continued its spring meeting under ideal conditions. The weather was fine and warm and the wind was not strong enough to be troublesome. For the first time during Carnival Week, women racegoers were able to wear, in comfort, summer frocks and wide hats, with the result that the crowd at the trotting meeting had a very festive appearance. Gaily patterned silk dresses tailored linen, and lightweight wool suits in pale shades were greatly favoured and these, worn with wide hats, added colour and variety to the scene. The lawns and gardens were in excellent order, the music of the New Brighton Municipal Band was inspiriting, and the courteous executive of the club was, as always, most generous in its kindly hospitality.
