FUNERAL MANY TRIBUTES TO MR W. PATTERSON LOCAL BODIES AND BUSINESS FIRMS REPRESENTED The funeral of Mr W. Patterson was held at the Ashburton Cemetery yesterday, and was attended by a large and representative gathering of public bodies, Masonic lodges end business firms. The service at the residence of Mr Patterson was conducted by the Rev. R. S. Watson, who was assisted at the graveside by the chaplain of the Ashburton Masonic Lodge (Worshipful Bro. W. H. Amos). The pall-bearers were Messrs J. A. P Munro, G. Chapman, R. Drummond, J. R. Wilkie (all returned slodiers representing both Masonic Lodges and fellow countrymen of Mr Patterson), and Messrs E. H. Orr (deputy-Mayor) and F. J. E. Smallbone (Ashburton Borough Council). Among those present were the Mayor (Mr W. H. Woods), Crs. E. Buchanan. H R C McElrea, W. H. Robinson, R. Kerr, J. Shaw, J. T.
