WOMEN’S DIVISION OF FARMERS’ UNION

„. 0 ,: ♦ OURUHIA BRANCH Mrs W. P, Spencer presided at the monthly meeting of the Ouruhia branch of the Women’s Division of the New Zealand Farmers’ Union. A motion of sympathy was passed to Mrs Bell and family in their recent bereavement. Payment to the social committee for the use of the schoolroom was approved. The secretary reported that an invitation from the Ciarkville-East Eyreton branch to a social on November 20, had been received. Competitions for the meeting were as follows:—Vase: Mrs Dunlop 1, Miss Dunlop 2. Best bloom: Mrs Dunlop 1, Mesdames Dawber and Chenery (equal) 2. Christmas present: Miss H. Bell 1, Mesdames Spencer and Marsh (equal) 2. Mrs W. P. Spencer and Mrs H. A. Dawber were hostesses. DARFIELH BRANCH

There was a large attendance of members at the meeting of the Barfield Women’s Division of the Farmers’ Union. Mrs A. A. Stott presided. Votes of sympathy were accorded Mrs L. Register in the recent death of her father. An invitation was received from the Sheffield Women’s Institute for members to attend a social evening being given to Mrs W. Deans, Dominion president of the Women’s Institute. Hostesses for the afternoon, were Misses D. Holland, O. Thompson. K. McLaughlin, and I. Morrison. Competitions resulted: —Best decorated vase: Mrs J. Gunn 1, Mrs J. H. Syme 2, Mrs C. Price 3. A cake competition resulted: Mrs M. Houston 1,. Mr..t G. C. Warren 2, Mrs R. S. Gunn and Mrs A. Bringans, equal, 3. A flower competition resulted as follows: Mrs G. Masterton and Miss K. Duncan, equal. 1, Mrs C. Price 2. Mrs C. E. Reid gave an interesting talk on “The Problems of Life interesting to .Women.”
